The Curry Plant (Murraya koenigii), also known as Curry Leaf Plant, is a fragrant, aromatic shrub native to India and Sri Lanka. It is prized for its flavorful leaves, which are commonly used in South Asian cooking, especially in Indian, Sri Lankan, and Thai cuisines. The plant has a unique, citrusy, and slightly bitter flavor that enhances the taste of curries, soups, and stews. Although the curry plant’s name suggests a connection to curry powder, it should not be confused with the spice blend; instead, it refers to the leaves of this plant, which are often called curry leaves.

Description:

  • The curry plant is a small, evergreen shrub that grows up to 6-10 feet (1.8 to 3 meters) in height when fully mature.
  • Its leaves are pinnate (feather-like) and grow in clusters along the stem, with each leaf being lance-shaped and dark green.
  • The plant produces small, white, aromatic flowers, which are followed by small, black berries, though it's the leaves that are most commonly harvested for culinary use.

Care Tips for Curry Plant:

  1. Light Requirements:

    • Full Sun: Curry plants thrive in full sunlight and need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. This ensures robust growth and encourages the production of flavorful leaves.
  2. Watering:

    • Moderate Watering: The curry plant prefers moderate watering, but like many herbs, it doesn’t like to be waterlogged. Water the plant when the soil feels dry to the touch, but ensure that the pot or ground has proper drainage. Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water to prevent root rot.
  3. Temperature:

    • Warm Temperatures: The curry plant thrives in warm temperatures, typically between 75°F to 95°F (24°C to 35°C). It is sensitive to cold and frost, so it is best grown in regions with mild winters or as a container plant that can be brought indoors during the colder months.
  4. Soil:

    • Well-Draining Soil: The plant prefers light, well-draining soil. A loamy or sandy soil mix is ideal, and it should be kept slightly moist but not wet. It does not tolerate heavy, clayey soil that retains water for too long.
  5. Pruning and Harvesting:

    • Pruning: Regular pruning helps keep the curry plant bushy and encourages more leaf production. Trim any leggy growth and remove dead or damaged branches. Harvest the leaves regularly by snipping off fresh sprigs; this will encourage the plant to grow new leaves. Curry leaves can be used fresh or dried for cooking.
  6. Pests:

    • Common Pests: The curry plant is relatively pest-resistant, but it can occasionally attract aphids or spider mites, especially when grown indoors. Regular inspection and the use of insecticidal soap or neem oil can help control any pest infestations.
  7. Fertilizing:

    • Occasional Feeding: Curry plants are not heavy feeders, but you can apply a balanced fertilizer during the growing season (spring to summer) to encourage healthy growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excessive leafy growth without enough flavor in the leaves.
  8. Repotting:

    • If growing the curry plant in a container, repot it every couple of years to ensure it has enough room for healthy root growth. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid overwatering.

Sexy football and sunshine
Format: Kindle
I adore Lauren Rowe, her writing style, and her words written from her heart. When I check other readers reviews, I have trouble seeing we read the same book. There are some very critical reviews that are novella size, and miss the point of a fun, spicy, sports romance. This story captured me from the beginning chapter. I love football, and this book hit all my boxes. The characters are well developed from the main characters to all the secondary characters. Iris is much stronger than she thinks, and a beautiful ray of sunshine and positivity. She grows under Roman's love and support. In turn she gives all her love and support to him. I loved the spice, the banter, the new friendships for both. Lauren does amazing research for all her books. For me, this book took me away from the reality of this country, and I so appreciated that. Roman is a giver and Iris loves him for who he is without his superstar persona. Refreshing read and one I will reread again. As for Iris's ex, he receives the karma he deserves. Roman's son is the cutest, and reminded me of one of my grandsons. The meet cute definitely was one of the best I have read. Enjoy this fun, sexy, spicy filled romance. Each book that Lauren writes, I feel she cannot top, yet for me, she always does. Thank you Lauren.

Sports Romance at its best!
Format: Kindle
You guys! The way I cheered Iris on throughout this book! When Roman and Iris met will forever be something I laugh about. Absolutely I recommend this book to you! There is plenty of spice too. Not too much, but just enough. We see betrayal, heartbreak, anger, love, pride, self preservation and so much more in this book. Lauren Rowe has very quickly become a top favorite romance author for me. IYKYK! The way she sucks you in and makes you feel like you’re right there within the story, it’s phenomenal. 🏈 Sports Romance 👨🏻 Single Dad 🤝 Age Gap 🏘️ Paradise to Small Town 🛏️ One Bed 💸 Billionaire Romance The audiobook was done right! Narrators Samantha Brentmoor and Aiden Snow were fantastic! I’m not sure a better pairing could have been picked for this book.

Chasing the Ring
Format: Paperback
Chasing the Ring by Lauren Rowe delivers a fun, trope‑heavy sports romance with a jilted bride and NFL quarterback in paradise. While the chemistry between Iris and Roman is charming and the humor lightens the story, the plot feels predictable and the emotional beats don’t land as strongly as expected. A decent, easy read, but nothing that stands out in the crowded contemporary romance field.

A great start to a new series!
Format: Kindle
“What happens in Kauai stays in Kauai” Iris’ wedding didn’t go as planned when she found out about her fiancé’s lying and cheating ways. She goes to their honeymoon alone where she discovers a handsome stranger in her bungalow, turns out the place was double booked. There was instant attraction between Iris and Roman and after one amazing night together they decided to spend the week with a no strings fling. As the days go by, it’s starting to feel more and less like a fling. But they’ve both been withholding information from each other to protect their identities and once the secrets come out, they have to figure out if the time they’ve spent together is worth the risk. I love Iris! I think she’s so relatable. So proud of her for standing up for herself when she found out about her fiancé and for doing what she did when she found out about the truth about Roman. She’s the prefect preschool teacher, sweet, patient and kind. She deserves all the swoon and spice after what she’s been through and Roman definitely delivered. Roman being in the public eye all the time never knows if someone is being truthful just to get close to him so he definitely embraced the fact that Iris didn’t know who he was. He was able to just be himself and show her his real self. And this man knows how to bring the swoon and he for sure delivered in the bedroom! Such a great start to the series! This is the Lauren Rowe’s trad debut and she definitely delivered!!! With the Super Bowl coming up soon, this is a must read to get you in the mood!

Excellent Rom-Com
Format: Kindle
Starting with an iconic, unhinged confrontation with a serial cheater! Quickly moving onto two awesome meet cutes. (i guess one of them is a pee-cute) Iris had a reaction I fully stand behind. I do hate the she went viral for it, but that comes back around to be almost empowering! I love an unrecognized athlete - secret identity style trope and this one was done well. Giving Iris time to heal up and bask in the attention of a man who sees her as everything she is. Roman and his family have a great relationship and the way they all came for Iris was perfect. Magic Blinders really took me! I truly love the concept, how it helped Roman, and how I can see it really helping children and people like me with adhd! Lauren stories have an interesting structure I have not read anywhere else. They keep me on my toes, laughing til I cry and really just enjoying the stories. Thanks Lauren and Netgalley.
