Overview

Garbanzo beans, or chickpeas, are a nutritious and versatile dry bean variety, known for their nutty flavor and creamy texture when cooked. They are a staple food in many cultures and can be enjoyed at the dry, mature stage. Garbanzo beans are easy to grow, drought-tolerant, and productive. They are rich in protein, complex carbohydrates, folate, iron, and soluble fiber. Additionally, their ability to form a symbiotic relationship with Rhizobium bacteria helps improve soil fertility by fixing nitrogen, enhancing soil health.

Garbanzo beans typically grow as bush beans, which are low-growing, compact plants that reach 1–2 feet in height and do not require support. While less common, pole varieties may exist but typically need trellising or support structures.

Conditions

Garbanzo beans are a frost-sensitive, warm-season crop that grows best in well-drained, loamy soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. They thrive in full sun, needing at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. For optimal growth, amend the soil with compost and phosphorus.

Planting

Plant garbanzo beans directly in the garden once the soil is warm (above 60°F). Sow the seeds 1 inch deep, spaced 4 to 6 inches apart in rows. Water well when planting, but avoid overwatering to prevent seed rot. After seedlings emerge (usually in 7 to 14 days), keep the soil moderately moist, allowing it to dry slightly between waterings. Bush types do not need support, but if growing pole varieties, set up trellises shortly after planting.

Care

If garbanzo beans are new to your garden, inoculating the seeds with Rhizobium bacteria will help the plants fix nitrogen, improving yields and soil health. Water consistently but avoid overwatering to ensure the soil dries slightly between waterings.

Pests and Diseases

To prevent seed rot and damping-off disease, avoid planting garbanzo beans in cool, damp soil. White mold can be minimized by rotating crops and watering early in the day so foliage dries quickly. To manage bacterial blights, practice crop rotation and compost old plant debris. Encourage beneficial insects like ladybugs by planting cilantro or other umbel flowers nearby. Use organic solutions such as insecticidal soap or diatomaceous earth for severe pest infestations.

Harvest

For dry beans, allow the pods to dry on the plant until they are brittle, and the seeds rattle inside. Harvest the beans once fully mature, ensuring they are thoroughly dry. Harvest frequently if picking beans at the green shell stage to encourage continued production.

Decent for the price. Instructions suck but most people should be able to figure it out. More below.
Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel, Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel
SUMMARY: 3 stars from me because it's firmly average. It's fine for the price. Assembly and materials are alright but I can see some caveats depending on your circumstances. Assembly instructions do a subpar job of pointing out some details. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS: Maybe it's because I'm autistic and/or building model kits and assembling stuff is my jam, but I honestly thought people were exaggerating when they were complaining about the instructions and I'd be able to flex my ~superior assembly skills.~ I was wrong! These instructions genuinely suck, and whoever is responsible for making them should be ashamed. The instructions do a poor job of calling out some details regarding orientation of parts, and some of the images do not actually match the physical parts. For example, it does not really outline the assembly of the end panels clearly, and I can see someone accidentally using the wrong poles. I've drawn over a photo to show what you should do to try and make it clearer. Additionally, the manual shows a flathead screw for bolting the feet into position, but the actual screw is not a flathead. It also does not point out the counterbore, so if you aren't paying attention you may put the foot pads onto the wrong side of the foot. It's also missing the fact that you need to use another one of the plastic pieces when you finish assembling a panel. ACTUAL ASSEMBLY & MATERIALS: To their credit, all of my bags were clearly labeled. The assembly process wasn't difficult. It's mostly just tedious and requires a fair amount of space. I was able to assemble it by myself without any real difficulty. However, the way it's assembled means two things. One, the fabric parts aren't removable without disassembly. So if you want to use this in an environment where they would require cleaning, I would seriously recommend looking for another option. Or, you could buy this just to use the frame pieces and then somehow buy or make your own fabric pieces designed to be removable with velcro or something. Two, because of the materials I really don't have a lot of faith in this thing surviving disassembly and reassembly. Like a lot of sorta-cheap-but-convenient furniture, it uses those spring-button connections and plastic inserts with self-tapping screws. Those things are not really meant to be disassembled and rethreaded. It also relies a lot on the tension of the poles and the fabric to keep everything rigid and squared, which I think puts a lot of pressure on the aforementioned buttons, plastic inserts, and the hollow metal rods. So I feel like that will also cause issues with disassembly and reassembly. Basically once this thing is assembled, it's not really meant to be disassembled. The best you can do is spot-clean the fabric if you need to. Speaking of the fabric, I didn't see any labels on them or anything in the manual that says what they are, but they feel like some kind of polyester. They generate static electricity pretty easily, and pet hair and debris sticks easily. So that's another downside of them not being easily removable. For the most part it does seem pretty stable. The poles seem to be pretty uniform in length so they're all making contact with my floor. Obviously this isn't structural so it shouldn't be supporting anything, but the two main feet seem to be doing fine with keeping this thing upright. CLOSING THOUGHTS: Really, it's fine for what it is, but it could be better in a lot of little ways and the substandard quality of the instructions just seems unprofessional to me, which is why I'm being so harsh with my rating. Depending on your needs and environment you may want to consider a different option. Preferably one that is made to be disassembled with better materials, and/or one with fabric pieces made to be removed easily.

Not as it seems
Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel
these are awful... Each individual panel is fine, but when you put it together it can barely stand up, and the clips that hold it together keep popping off. Steer clear of this item.

Versatile Room Divider With Easy Assembly and Strong Coverage
Size: 3 Panel 12FT W
I picked up this Siebwin 3-panel folding room divider mainly for privacy and room separation, and overall it works very well. Assembly is very straightforward, and the divider can be set up, taken apart, and stored without much effort. The fabric quality feels good, and the frame construction is stronger and more stable than expected. The support tubes especially feel well built and help keep the divider standing securely. One feature I really liked is the flexibility of the design. The panels can be used together as a complete divider or separated depending on the setup and available space. That makes it much more versatile for different room layouts or temporary privacy needs. The coverage is also very good, and the size matches the manufacturer’s description accurately. The fabric blocks light and background visibility well enough to provide solid privacy without feeling overly heavy. The wider feet also help improve stability compared to thinner folding dividers. Another positive detail is that everything arrived complete with no missing parts or damaged pieces, which made assembly much easier and faster. Compared to cheaper privacy screens, this one feels more durable and easier to customize depending on the situation. In terms of value for the money, it feels like a very practical and worthwhile purchase considering the size, flexibility, and build quality. Overall, a versatile and well-built room divider with easy assembly, strong privacy coverage, stable construction, complete included parts, flexible panel configuration, and excellent everyday functionality.

Stable, flexible in deployment configuration, creates true privacy and looks great.
Size: 3 Panel 12FT W
This is the second room divider panel I have installed, and there are several features about this one that I like much better than my older one. The fact that there are no gaps and that the material is thicker means you get more privacy or more hiding power, if you wish. My older divider has vertical spaces between each of the panels and the panels are half as wide as the Siebwin panels, so there are many vertical spaces. The Siebwin divider really creates privacy. Another feature that I really appreciate is that the legs are wider and stand off from the floor. On my older one the legs are flat and they're rather awkward to adjust because they create more drag on the floor. The feet on the older one also loosen if you turn them counter clockwise, so adjustments of configuration that require the feet to be moved are more complex. The older divider also must be deployed in a zig-zag fashion because he feet are not as wide, but this new one can be deployed and stable in a straight, an "N" shape or an arc. They are both the same length, but because the older one must be use in a zig-zag deployment it doesn't reach to the length of the new one. The Siebwin divider definitely costs more at $103.48, but it sports several features and advantages over the other brand, so it does a better job and is worth the extra cost.
